Common questions

Before you book.

Do I need a GP referral?

For most private orthopaedic consultations you can be seen without one, but bring a referral letter if you already have it — it saves repeating your history. If your insurer requires a referral to cover the visit, we’ll tell you before you attend.

How soon will I be seen?

Most patients are offered an appointment within seven to fourteen days, depending on the specialty and the clinic you choose. If you’re willing to travel to another location, it is often sooner.

What will it cost?

The initial consultation is charged at a set fee that’s quoted to you before you attend. If surgery is recommended, you get a single written quote covering the surgeon, anaesthetist, hospital stay and follow-up — or, if you’re insured, confirmation of what your policy covers and any shortfall.

Will I definitely need surgery?

No. A large share of the people who come through this panel are treated without an operation — injections, physiotherapy, bracing or a change of activity. The consultation exists to find out which you need, and the consultant will tell you if surgery isn’t the answer.

Can I choose my surgeon?

Yes. Each consultant is listed with their specialty and the procedures they perform. If you name one when you book, we’ll try to place you in their next available clinic; if another has an earlier slot, we’ll offer you both.

I’m in Northern Ireland — can I attend?

Yes. We hold clinics in Belfast and see patients from across Northern Ireland at our southern locations. Cross-border arrangements differ from the EU Directive scheme, so tell us where you live when you book and we’ll explain the options that apply to you.
